Moe's Review
This is one of those King books that starts out great but by the end has lost it's steam. Thankfully, this one is good for the vast majority of it. It's just the very ending that leaves me wanting more, I won't go into it and spoil it for you if you haven't read it. There is one scene in this book that has stuck with me for many years. I read this book back in High School and re-read it for when I started this project to read all of King's books. The scene that has stuck with me is the scene where he drives the pencil through his hand, I don't know why but it has always been a vivid memory for me.
I have to say that I have always thought that George Stark is a great bad guy, he is just so vicious and ruthless that he makes for some great reading. I would love to read some of the books that he would have written.
I can recommend the Dark Half. Sure, the ending is a bit of a let down (a trait not uncommon in King's books) but it's the journey there and not the destination which is important and the ride getting there is quite enjoyable. |
